Taylor Frankie Paul says he was diagnosed with PTSD

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives‘ Taylor Frankie Paul opens up about his previous diagnosis.
“I was diagnosed with PTSD two years ago which I think is now PTSD … by more than one therapist out of all who thought they were diagnosed,” Paul, 31, wrote on his Instagram story on Sunday, April 19.
Complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CDD) can be the result of “experiencing chronic stress,” such as “long-term child abuse or domestic violence,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Paul also posted a video of 2024, where he filmed himself biting his lip while looking into the distance. “Just in case [you] I didn’t know what it looked like to break up and worry,” Paul wrote on top of the clip.
In a separate video from 2025, Paul was seen smiling for the camera as he explained that he felt he was “disconnected” when he pulled out his car keys to open the door to his hotel room. “I sat there for a few minutes trying to open the door to my hotel,” he wrote.
In the third slide, Paul shared a photo of himself smiling at the TIME100 Creators event in 2025 and a video of himself applying lipgloss.
“How many of us are masters of smiling about it? I cry a lot and there is a high chance that someone next to you is doing this and you have no idea. I just want to heal to try to help people in this,” wrote Paul.
In March, Mormon wives Production on season 5 was halted due to a domestic violence incident between Paul and his ex Dakota Mortensen. His 22nd season The Bachelorette it was also pulled by ABC.
Paul and Mortensen have since filed temporary restraining orders against each other, and won custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever. Taylor has been granted supervised visitation for at least six hours a week until their custody hearing on April 30. A judge will then reconsider her parenting time restrictions. (Taylor is also mother to daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with her ex-husband. Father Paul.)
Us Weekly confirmed on Tuesday, April 14, that Taylor will not be charged over the alleged disagreement between him and Mortensen in February.
“After reviewing the reports and evidence submitted to the Draper Police Department and the West Jordan Police Department, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul,” District Attorney Sim Gill’s office said in a statement obtained by Us at the time.
On Sunday, Taylor opened up about her healing journey in a separate Instagram post.
“Here are the ugly parts of what healing really looks like,” Taylor wrote. “If you don’t know me, you know that I will admit my mistakes, my mistakes, my mistakes, I know that [a part] of it. We will get there.”
He went on to say, “This public brutality that I have lived through not only once but twice now, to an even greater extent has finally become the cost of my freedom. I would not wish this on my greatest enemy, even those who value us. I cried on my knees because of the pain while saying THANK YOU.”
Taylor shared that she has “a road ahead,” but “nevertheless [she’s] freed forever from some living hell” “he did not find [her] way out.”
“Someone apparently saw me bleeding and poured salt on me … somehow I’m still here,” he wrote. “As we can see a little because I believe that God caught me and sent me help and an army to help me because, thank you to all of you who supported me. [me] and without the full context.”
He continued, “Undoubtedly God had a hand in this because after waiting for 7 weeks on the 7th day I REALLY got a call and all these numbers were cancelled. [of] his plans I’m afraid to see what will happen … the steps forward are the foundations.”
