Days of Our Lives: Alex’s Controlling Way Pushes Stephanie Away – Is Their Marriage Over?

Days of Our Lives with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) trying to keep his new wife Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) happy and safe, but he thinks Alex is interfering and treating her like a child. So, is Stephanie going to leave for good because she’s too controlling? And we will talk about this because it is not the first time.

And of course, we know Alex is worried sick about Stephanie after her kidnapping ordeal with Owen Kent (Wes Ramsey). But Alex fails miserably at making Stephanie happy and their marriage may be over and done with soon because of his behavior. Let’s get into it!

Stephanie’s Post-Abduction PTSD in Days of Our Lives

So, Alex and Stephanie are having a really hard time. She has severe PTSD after being kidnapped by the spider Owen and imprisoned in that last hospital room. And the only person who gets it is Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark). Everyone else sympathizes, but Stephanie and Jeremy are responsible for the trauma.

They went through this together. And you know, Stephanie accused him of stalking her. And of course, Alex and Steve Johnson falsely accuse Jeremy. However, despite all that, he still risked his life for her. He followed Owen to find Stephanie and Jeremy was attacked and captured.

And right now, even though it’s unfair, Stephanie feels that Alex didn’t protect her from Owen. I mean, that’s cruel to think, not to mention, because Alex did everything he could to keep Stephanie safe.

She even let her father Steve go and live in their little house to protect her. And even though Steve, Alex, and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) were on the lookout for the attacker, Stephanie was still taken by Owen, basically because their eyes were on Jeremy. They were looking the wrong way. Credit where it’s due. Owen has done an excellent job of making Jeremy Horton a watcher.

So now Stephanie is reeling from the consequences of Owen holding her back. The very one who kept him in the freezer all those years ago. Since Stephanie has been having nightmares, she can’t resist being touched. He wants a gun. He keeps the front door closed at all times.

Meanwhile, Alex tries his best to make her feel better, but Stephanie won’t let her. And Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) encouraged Stephanie to talk to Alex, and Stephanie also opened up to Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) about her concerns. But Stephanie didn’t tell Alex and blame him for catching Owen.

And Stephanie was upset when she found out that Alex was taking things out on Chanel and told her in confidence. So, it’s more than just the kidnapping that made Stephanie so angry with her husband. Interference. Alex tells her cousin Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) that Stephanie wants to pay back the advance. He doesn’t want to be a writer anymore, at least not yet.

Which is all the accurate information Alex gave Philip, but he was talking outside of school. The problem is that Stephanie wanted to talk to Philip and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) herself. She didn’t need Alex to take care of her professional obligations. That is Stephanie’s responsibility and right. And it’s his agency. And it’s not the first time Alex has tried to limit Stephanie’s independence, saying she was protecting her.

If you remember, a few years ago, before Stephanie and Alex fell in love, he stepped in as interim CEO. The Titan after the stabbing of Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker). And at that time, Alex used his position to approach Stephanie, who was doing PR for him Titan, and was actually forced to work with Alex. And that was back when he’d been a playful boy doing threesomes, and then he decided that Stephanie was meant to be with him.

And, if you remember, Alex did it because she was jealous that she was dating Chad DiMera (formerly Billy Flynn). Then when he got a chance with her, Alex did something terrible. That’s when Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) got sick and Alex hung up on Stephanie when they were about to make love.

And that’s because Alex saw Chad’s name on the driver’s ID. And he was calling Stephanie to tell her that her mother, Kayla, was going to die. So, Stephanie missed out on being on her deathbed because Alex was in control. Now, luckily, Kayla came back from the dead, just like someone did in Salem.

But that was a painful betrayal for Stephanie and a huge mistake for Alex. And many fans saw him really in control at that time because he put Stephanie first in bed out of respect for the family emergency.

Days of Our Lives: Alex’s Pushy Behavior Causes Problems

And let’s not forget how Alex pushed Stephanie when she wrote One Stomy Night. He was reluctant to have his book published at all, but Alex pushed it forward and promised to make sure the mile high sexy scene was cut from the book, but it stayed and that’s how Jeremy ended up in the book and realized Stephanie was Anastasia Sans.

So, Alex pushed Stephanie to publish and then dropped the ball on the critical editing she wanted because Alex was fast-tracking the project. He was prioritizing its success over Stephanie’s need to remain anonymous.

And of course, we know that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) was the one who told Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) that she was Anastasia and not Jeremy. But if Alex had listened to Stephanie and cut that scene, she and Jeremy wouldn’t even be on Owen’s radar in the first place.

Then, of course, we had a book tour that got canceled. Alex interrupts Stephanie’s book tour. And in fact, Alex canceled the dates without looking at Stephanie first. Once again, Alex insisted that he was protecting her and that it was in her best interest because of the attacker.

And maybe it was, but again, he took her for granted. He took Stephanie’s decisions away from him. The bottom line is that Alex jumped a lot. And she makes decisions for Stephanie instead of Stephanie. And that was before they got married Days of Our Lives.

All this, and then Alex was confronted by an alpha macho psycho when Stephanie told him about the trauma she went through when she and Jeremy were dating because Alex threatened Jeremy. He was coming. You know, he was a very logical person. But that’s not what Stephanie wanted.

He told Alex to share something from the past, not to come off as toxic. And after Jeremy literally saved Stephanie, Alex then told Jeremy, “Get away from Stephanie and leave Salem again” without talking to her to find out where Stephanie’s head was about that.

Will Alex Be Out This Week On Days Of Our Lives?

So, this week, spoilers say Alex is going to be freaked out. And it’s possible because he saw Stephanie in Jeremy’s arms. So, Stephanie recently lashed out at Alex after finding out he quit her position The Titan. Therefore, he felt foolish in retrospect because he was giving Philip information that he already had.

And after Stephanie runs to Alex, she runs to Jeremy and cries on his shoulder and holds him right there in the town square. I expect Alex to be the best if he goes to Jeremy to comfort Stephanie after she gets angry and storms out on him. Basically, Alex refuses to accept that Stephanie has forgiven Jeremy because of her dirty past.

And he thanks Jeremy for being there during the hostage ordeal when no one else was. And Alex doesn’t think that’s fair. It’s not his choice. It’s Stephanie. And Alex loves Stephanie, but there’s a fine line between protection and control. And he has crossed over until Stephanie arrives.

So, the question is, are we about to see Alex and Stephanie’s wedding and it’s over before it started? Plus, there’s still the issue of Stephanie not wanting kids, and Alex does, and she’ll soon find out she still has one when Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) returns to town next week.
