Zach Bryan Says ‘He Was Forced’ To Cancel Concert

Zach Bryan has publicly apologized to fans in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after he was “forced” to cancel a concert.

“To my fellow Oklahomans, I am being forced by my team to cancel tonight’s show due to the threat of severe and dangerous weather,” Bryan, 30, announced on X on Friday, April 3. “I have never canceled a show in my life but unfortunately I have no choice in the matter.”

The “Pink Skies” singer was scheduled to headline a two-night run at HA Chapman Stadium in Tulsa on Friday and Saturday, April 4, along with supporting acts The Turtles. JR Carroll.

While Friday’s concert has been canceled entirely, Bryan clarified in a statement that Saturday’s event in Tulsa “will go ahead as planned.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” he tweeted.

The singer also attached a text where an anonymous member of his band explained why they needed to close Friday’s show.

“I know you’re going to hate me for this, but we have no choice but to cancel the show,” the employee wrote to Bryan. “I recently had a meeting with the police, the school and the weather forecasters and the consensus is that we will put people’s safety at risk by trying to install this program.

The artist’s staff includes a meteorologist’s forecast that predicts “severe storms in Tulsa” with wind gusts “over 60 mph, heavy rain, hail and lightning,” and the possibility of tornadoes. The National Weather Service has issued a “severe thunderstorm warning” that will remain in effect until 10 p.m. local time on Friday.

Bryan seemed annoyed by the test, replying, “Are you kidding?”

The country star later revealed via Instagram that he would have preferred to go ahead with the concert despite severe weather warnings.

“[Five] years of touring I’ve never canceled a primetime show,” he complained. “I pissed off a lot of people this morning trying to ‘play it anyway.’ If I had a say in this, things would be different. I’m sorry and I love you all.”

A country music star Tyler Childers tried to convince Bryan that he was doing the right thing by canceling the event, writing, “Better be safe then [sic] sorry brother.”

“You can imagine not canceling and that number of people having nowhere to go when there’s a tornado coming through. You just don’t know what can happen,” the reality star and powerhouse Jess Turnquist he revealed.

Any fans affected by the cancellation of Friday’s concert can get a refund by following the instructions in Bryan’s tweet.

The Oologah, Oklahoma, native kicked his own Heaven Above Visiting St. Louis at The Dome at America’s Center on March 7. He must stay on the road through the spring and summer, before finishing the tour in Auburn, Alabama, at Jordan-Hare Stadium on October 10.
