Tudor could solve their midfield injury problem by offloading Spurs’ new Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, with Igor Tudor only part of the squad.
Four games (in the league) is not a long time for a manager to make up his mind, but Spurs don’t really have much time to get things right. Micky van de Ven has labeled this situation the “Doomsday Situation”.
For many fans, there is something wrong about Tottenham’s surprising, surprising collapse, with the Londoners stripped to the bare bones as they look to stave off the threat of relegation.
Latest Spurs injury news
Tottenham are busy as they prepare to face last year’s champions. Liverpool have not been in good form this season, but the severity of Spurs’ injury problem has removed any hope of a result on Merseyside.

Tudor is at risk of being sacked from his interim position, but the fact that the board waited until after the weekend speaks volumes for the club’s strategy and acceptance that this storm of fitness concerns needs to be weathered.
Van de Ven didn’t help matters when he received a red card against Crystal Palace last week. The Dutchman may have been Tottenham’s star player this season, but his sloppy tackle on Ismaila Sarr gave the Eagles a way back into the game, and the disappointment deepened.
To complicate matters, Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha will be sidelined after clashing heads in the defeat at Atletico Madrid, due to contract disputes.
All told, 13 first-team players could miss the trip, with Yves Bissouma out through injury and Conor Gallagher down with flu, and without midfield options, Tudor could make a tweak and release a struggling star in a new role.
Tudor must pour the Spurs forward into a new role
Tottenham will face them at Anfield, but Tudor can help lay the seeds for a steady and confident performance in the final few months of the campaign by securing the signing of Xavi Simons, who has worked hard since joining Tottenham from RB Leipzig for around £51m last summer.
Simons, 22, is one of the most talented players in Europe, and the Londoners consider him a “potential star”, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, but it cannot be denied that he found it difficult in north London, with content creator Ronaldo Brown a few months ago that he was “swallowed in Prem”, and he is not sure when he was attacked.
However, context is important, and the extent of Tottenham’s conundrum has brought life to these players, all of whom have much to offer.
Even in the midst of his struggles, aspects of Simons’ game stand out, which shows why, as an attacking midfielder, he was compared to Christian Eriksen when he arrived.

For an attacking midfielder, he earns his fair share of duels, stuck from a defensive perspective. Of course, he is at his best when deployed in an attacking position, thrusting in front of the midfield circle, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and this could help reshape Spurs’ midfield while retaining some of the creativity that has proved elusive all season.
And it’s not like he can’t make things happen himself, with smart feet and a willingness to take on the load that has admittedly waned over the months at Tottenham.
While Simons doesn’t have the ability to replace someone like Palhinha, he can play a box-to-box role against a Liverpool midfielder who has left a lot to be desired this season, and perhaps it could start a good trend in the business months of this treacherous campaign.
