Liverpool are ready to make a blockbuster £75m move for Diomande

Amazingly, this is Liverpool’s third season in the last six years that you can call ‘topsy-turvy’.

The Anfield club has embraced both the peaks and valleys of the big game, winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League, among other honours, since Jurgen Klopp transformed the club’s history when he was appointed ten years ago.

Arne Slot got his flowers when he guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in their first year without Klopp in the dugout, exceeding everyone’s expectations.

But the Dutch coach has been a shadow of last year by playing a major role in this campaign, as the Reds sit in fifth place. Much depends on the upcoming engagement of Manchester City in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the two legs of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

While there have been rumblings of Slot getting his P45, reports suggest that FSG have maintained their support for the head coach, with summer transfer plans in line with his plan.

Liverpool are planning a move for Mohamed Salah

The summer transfer window won’t be as busy as last year’s record-breaking transfer window, but Mohamed Salah’s announcement this week has underlined the need for a new front-runner.

The King of Egypt will leave the club on a free transfer, as they have fallen from their best form since they almost won the title last year.

Changing this myth is an impossible and impossible task, but it is one Slot and Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes need to take on and come up with a player in the new wing who can play a key role in a title-chasing team.

Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise and PSG’s Desiree Doue emerged as top contenders, but both players were deemed untouchable by their outfits. RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, 19, was also a target, but FSG were rejected by the Ivorian’s £87m price tag.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have made a controversial move for Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who is also wanted by Manchester United and is worth £75m, while the Reds are said to be ready to launch a move for the Toffees’ talisman.

Obviously, this won’t be easy to pull off, but Liverpool’s interest is genuine and Ndiaye is headed for Europe’s top flight after two impressive years at Goodison Park.

Why Liverpool want to sign Iliman Nidaye

You’d have to trace back to 2002 to find the last time Liverpool and Everton were involved in direct first-team transfers: Abel Xavier joined the Reds for around £750,000 after three years at the Toffees, but his time at Anfield was nothing to write home about.

Ndiaye would come with a different weight. The 26-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 64 games for Everton, who topped their league table last season.

Everton Winger Iliman Ndiaye

The owner of fearsome speed and deceptive driving skills, he is exactly what the Slot side has been missing. In fact, one notable Premier League commentator has noted that Ndiaye is “Mane all over again”, not just because of his shared citizenship.

Ndiaye is a devastating and direct winger, fighting the ball and never stopping to drive it into danger. He can score and he can assist.

Diomande has the world at his feet, but Liverpool can’t afford to spend a nine-figure sum on a rookie. Florian Wirtz, for example, is proof that the Premier League is a difficult team to adjust to, while Ndiaye has been firing on all cylinders in England’s top flight.

Diomande joined Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes last summer, and there is no question that he is now riding the wave. However, the youngster still has a lot of work to do, and whether he is ready to take over at Liverpool in the Premier League is another question entirely.

Salah’s exit is more than just sad: it’s the end of an era, the door is closing on the journey of the man who brought so much joy to the Anfield outfit.

When Mane left several years ago, he was also an unstoppable force, signed from the club’s rivals Southampton for £35m.

Could Ndiaye be the next version? Certainly not Salah, but then, who is? Instead, Ndiaye is more akin to compatriot Mane, and having established himself as a striker in the Premier League, he could be a better fit for Salah and replace Diomande, his youth and inexperience suggesting he could be tested for the first time in the slot.
