There’s Only One 2025 Oscar-Nominated Movie You Should Be Watching Right Now

Of the ten movies nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, the top prize could go down anywhere. They are sinners or One Battle After Another.
Netflix is fortunate to have two contenders among this year’s films, Frankenstein again Train for Dreams.
As we like Guillermo del Toromonster flick, Train for Dreams Watch With Us is the single Oscar-nominated movie of 2026 that you need to watch.
If there’s one film that could pull off an Oscar upset and beat the best, it’s this. And we’ll tell you why.
‘Dream Train’ Has Amazing Pictures
Train for Dreams it has a lot more going for it than just the visuals, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out how well shot this film is. Director and writer Clint Bentley fills the screen with jaw-dropping images of life on the railroad frontier in the early 20th century. There may be some digital trickery here and there to remove things that reflect our current time. But for the most part, the film presents itself convincingly as a look back at how America evolved 100 years ago.
This is the kind of movie that would have played much better on the big screen than on Netflix, although some lucky moviegoers found that to be eligible for Oscars. Among the four Oscars for this film, Adolfo Veloso it was nominated for Best Cinematography. In fact, that’s the award this movie has the best chance of winning.
Joel Edgerton Gives the Performance of a Lifetime
The film covers several decades in the life of Robert Grainier (Joel Edgerton), a railway worker who doesn’t always talk. That’s partly because the narrator (Is Patton) speaks louder instead of Robert’s internal monologue. What’s amazing is how much Edgerton is able to convey about Robert through his eyes, face and body language. It’s so incredibly effective, that you don’t forget that Edgerton keeps his mouth shut for a long time.
Edgerton also conveys a deeply emotional side of Robert during his scenes with Gladys Olding (Felicity Jones), the woman who later became his wife. Their love feels important and strong, even when they’re not on screen together. There are a number of other characters that Robert meets and befriends, but Gladys is the one who leaves the biggest impact with her presence and absence.
The film has an amazing quality that lasts long after it’s finished
It would be a mistake to spoil certain aspects of the story, especially when they pack such an emotional punch. For now, that’s all we’ll say Train for Dreams it still resonates with its audience, especially after a disaster. William H. Macy again Kerry Condon both have great supporting performances as Arn Peeples and Claire Thompson, respectively. But Arn’s words and vision have real power.
This isn’t a ghost story, but something is bothering Robert, and it’s not completely gone. Another year, this would have been a No. 1 contender for Best Picture. But the consolation prize is that Train for Dreams it will be remembered as one of the best movies Netflix has ever made.
Train for Dreams is streaming on Netflix.
