March may not have the same reputation as the later months of the year, but there have been some great films released in that month over the last century of cinema.
The Best Picture Oscar winners came out in March, including one that was released a few years ago.
The Watch Us team looked at the long list of films and narrowed down the selection to the five best movies ever released in March.
Our picks may have a few March releases you may have forgotten about, as long as they play like summer blockbusters.
5. ‘Everything Everywhere Everywhere At Once’ (2022)
Release date: March 22, 2022
Everything Everywhere At Once is one of the Best Picture winners on this list, and it’s not the kind of film that’s usually popular with awards. Michelle Yeah, So Huy Quan again Jamie Lee Curtis they all won Oscars for their roles in this film, and some feel that Stephanie Hsu should have won the award for Best Supporting Actress instead of Curtis.
Each of the four actors gets to play multiple roles in the story, but the film mainly follows Yeoh’s Evelyn Quan Wang, a woman whose marriage to Waymond Wang (Quan) is falling apart and her relationship with his daughter, Joy (Hsu), is deteriorating. Before Evelyn is swallowed up by the slime of her life, she is warned that an evil threat could wipe out all the various species, and the only thing standing in the way of oblivion is Evelyn herself.
Everything Everywhere At Once airs on HBO Max.
4. ‘The Matrix’ (1999)

In 1999, moviegoers thought so The first episode of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace it was going to be i game-changing sci-fi film of the year. Instead, The Matrix surprised the audience with amazing special effects and a story that had real surprises. Keanu Reeves stars as Thomas Anderson, a hacker better known by his nickname Neo.
Neo knows in his bones that something is wrong with the world, and he only hears about the Matrix. It takes a freedom fighter named Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and a mysterious woman named Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) to show Neo the truth about his life. Everything Neo believes is a lie, and there is a force led by Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) who are determined to destroy them.

3. ‘Beetlejuice’ (1988)
Release date: March 30, 1988
Tim Burton‘s Beetle juice hit theaters about a year ago Michael Keaton he went on to play Batman in the director’s next film. Arguably, it’s Keaton’s time as Beetlejuice – or more accurately, Betelgeuse – that has become his most enduring role. That’s surprising considering Keaton gets so little screen time in the movie. Instead, the real characters of the film are a young couple, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis). They had their whole lives ahead of them, at least until they died.
The Maitlands find themselves struggling with their dream home and unwillingly living with the home’s new tenants, the Deetz family. Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) can see and hear the Maitlands, but his parents cannot. And when old Deetzes cause trouble for the Maitlands, they may have no choice but to turn to Beetlejuice for help.

2. ‘Fargo’ (1996)

Frances McDormandOscar’s reign began Fargowhere she won the first of three Academy Awards for Best Actress. Directors Joel again Ethan Cohen they didn’t go home empty-handed, as they won Best Original Screenplay for their crime comedy. McDormand plays Marge Gunderson, the police chief of a small town called Brainerd. She is also pregnant with her first child and is not used to many violent situations.
Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) creates disaster when he hires two violent intellectuals, Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi) and Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare), kidnapping his wife, Jean Lundegaard (Kristin Rudrüd), and rescue his wealthy father, Wade Gustafson (Harvey Presnell). It’s not too much of a spoiler to say that the plot goes awry, and a crime that was meant to be bloodless turns out to be shockingly bloody and hilarious.

1. ‘The Godfather’ (1972)

The Godfather perhaps the obvious choice for a spot among the top 10 movies of all time. So it’s a natural choice for the best movie to come out in March. This masterpiece won Best Picture, Best Actor Marlon Brando and Best Adapted Screenplay for a director Francis Ford Coppola and a novelist Mario Puzo.
After World War II, Vito Corleone (Brando) is at the peak of his life and is winding down his time as the head of the Corleone crime family. Vito’s youngest son, Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), was a soldier who was not supposed to follow in his father’s footsteps. But after the attempt on Vito’s life, Michael will have no choice about his future and family. Unless he can match or surpass his father’s brutality, then Michael’s reign over the family may be very short.
