Virgin River‘s Marco Grazzini breaks his silence after Mike was kicked off the show before season 8.
“Character departures are very common in this business – especially on a long-running and popular series like Virgin River,” Grazini, 45, who has been on the show since season 2, told. Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, March 12. “It was a great opportunity to play for Mike for six seasons.”
Grazzini said he has “nothing but love for the cast, crew, and especially the amazing fans who make this show so important,” adding, “I’m excited about this new chapter in my career.”
News broke Thursday that Grazini won’t be returning as a series regular — just yet.
“For me, I’m just trying to look at the length of the show and make sure that the characters we keep have enough of a story engine to keep them going,” the show’s producer. Patrick Sean Smith he told Deadline. “So I can’t say that there are certain characters planned, but I think we’ll have to start – as the characters go through their studies – make decisions and bring in new blood.”
In addition to Grazini, Lauren Hammersleywho has been playing the role of Charmaine since the show aired on Netflix, is also not expected to return. Except Grazini, all the others Virgin RiverSeason 7 cast members are expected to return for season 8.

Grazzini joked that Mike “has some kind of personality.”
“Mike falls hard and falls fast. He’s passionate and he just wants to find love,” he said. “But maybe you need to exercise a little [caution]. Just wait and see. But it’s clear that he was taken by Victoria.”
The actor expressed his hope that Mike “can expand his horizons and maybe find other interests.”
“It can be someone who can distract him from his work life and bring him more to other parts of him. The things he likes and the things he likes. Because he knows that work can be hard on you,” he continued. So if our significant other is at work, it can be very difficult. Although he is familiar, it would be good for Mike to step out of his comfort zone.”
Virgin River is currently streaming on Netflix.
