Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on Thursday that it has arrested some illegal suspects who have been convicted of various crimes, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the agency reopening its program to support victims of immigration crimes. The arrests and convictions described by ICE have not been independently verified.
ICE’s Office of Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) was relaunched on April 10, 2025, with the goal of providing assistance to victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants and their families.
The program was first introduced in 2017 under President Donald Trump’s first administration but was replaced in 2021 by the Victims Engagement and Services Line, a separate program under the Biden administration before being reintroduced last year after Trump returned to office.
ICE said the celebration of the opening of the program comes after several arrests on Wednesday of suspected illegal immigrants who were convicted of crimes such as harming a child, assault and robbery. ICE did not specify whether the individuals were recently arrested or removed from local custody following prior convictions, and did not provide dates for convictions.

“The brave men and women of ICE law enforcement continue to target illegal neighborhood criminals in our communities to prevent another American from being raped, maimed, or killed by an illegal alien who should not be in our country. American victims [why] we are fighting,” Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.
“Yesterday, ICE arrested several violent offenders, including one vicious animal that harmed a CHILD. With each arrest, ICE makes American communities safer. We will not stop fighting for justice for the victims of illegal crimes,” continued Bis.
The center gave a sample to some of the detainees. ICE has not said how many people have been detained nationwide as part of the announcement.

Vu Nguyen, of Vietnam, was convicted of assault with an automatic rifle in Pasadena, California, the agency said.
The agency said Omar Alexander Rodriguez-Grande, from El Salvador, was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in Harris County, Texas.
Oscar Fransisco, from Guatemala, was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Palm Beach, Florida, according to the agency.

ICE said Josue Coreas-Chavez, from El Salvador, was convicted of a robbery in Riverhead, New York.
“Illegal immigrants harming American citizens is senseless. But now, thanks to President Trump, we are able to help people who are victims of criminal aliens through the VOICE Office,” said ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons when the program’s relaunch was announced last year. “I am extremely proud of all ICE employees – the officers and agents who enforce immigration law fairly, the support staff who coordinate these operations and manage things, and those who help bring to light those who have been harmed as illegal aliens.”
VOICE was replaced in 2021 during the Biden administration with the Victims Engagement and Services Line to “serve as a comprehensive and integrated victim support system provided by ICE that will ensure services are provided to all victims regardless of the immigration status of the victim or perpetrator.”
“Providing assistance to the most vulnerable community is a core American value. All people, regardless of where they come from, should be able to access victim services without fear,” said DHS Secretary at the time Alejandro Mayorkas.
