How Euphoria Season 3 Premiere Paid Posthumous Eric Dane

EuphoriaThe season 3 premiere found a way to pay tribute Eric Dane after his death.
Before the episode aired on Sunday, April 12, a card with Dane’s photo was revealed, with the message, “In memory of Eric Dane.” It is still expected that this actor will appear in the next season as Cal.
News first broke in February that Dane had died after a battle with ALS, a neurological disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and has no cure.
“He spent his last days surrounded by his dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” read a statement from Dane’s loved ones. “Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference to others facing the same battle. He will be deeply missed, and always fondly remembered.”
The statement concluded: “Eric loved his fans and is forever grateful for the love and support he has received. The family has requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time.”
Dane first went public with his diagnosis less than a year ago.

“I was diagnosed with ALS,” he said in a statement in April 2025. “I’m so grateful to have my loving family by my side as we look at this next chapter, I feel lucky that I’ve been able to continue working and I look forward to returning [the] Euphoria set next week. I kindly ask you to give my family and I some privacy during this time.”
Dane is not the only costar Euphoria the actor is missing. Angus Cloudwho played Fez, died in July 2025 following an accidental overdose. He was 25 years old.
“Some people ask why it took so long between seasons 2 and 3. There were the obvious elements – the strikes, trying to make the show work with our most needed characters, but the real time was trying to find a way to find a way to honor those we lost,” the creator. Sam Levinson said in his speech before the start of season 3.
She continued: “When Angus died, it was hard. I loved him so much, and I fought so hard to keep him clean. The year he died, 2023, he was one of the 73,000 people in America who died of a fentanyl overdose. I learned a lot that year, but what I realized more than anything else is that death is what gives life meaning. You can’t force the presence of truth. That life itself is amazing, it’s a gift, it’s a great blessing.”
