Franklin Graham is filming an Easter special in Minneapolis for Fox News

Reverend Franklin Graham visited a city that has recently been torn apart by divisive violence and topics of violence, including an outbreak of church service, for hope and truth this Easter Sunday.

“What is Truth?” Easter special hosted by Pastor Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), was filmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which has been the epicenter of this year’s public violence.

A crowd of 39 people stormed the Cities Church in St. Paul in January chanting “Who needs justice, we need justice” after the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti in anti-ICE protests in nearby Minneapolis. All 39 have been arrested, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

“It’s hard to fathom the depth our country has fallen to. Hatred, violence, crime – it’s rampant. It seems like the whole world is colliding. In this time of division, many wonder, where can we find the truth?” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

The tactics used on Christians in the Cities Church were reprimanded by the nephew of Pastor Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Alveda King, in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“I was taught to protest through prayer and non-violence,” King said. “So, yes, I was very shocked and disturbed when I saw a worship service interrupted by hate. That’s not the way to get God’s attention. That shouldn’t be the way to get America’s attention.”

The 30-minute show features music from the late Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels and Michael W. Smith.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association was previously headquartered in Minneapolis, where Graham served as President of Northwestern University, then Northwestern College. “What is Truth?” it was recorded at its center.

Last year’s televised Easter message from Pastor Graham featured Southern California after the devastating Palisades fires, titled “Easter from the Ashes.” Samaritan’s Purse has helped more than 700 homeowners in the Palisades area get their property back.

Franklin Graham’s previous Easter specials were shot in Jerusalem during the conflict between Israel and Hamas and in war-torn Ukraine.

“Jesus told his disciples, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but Me.’ This is what Easter is all about—our hope is in the risen Savior,” Graham said.
