Fabrizio Romano suggests Tottenham could make a new bid to become the “top” manager in the world

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Tottenham’s new bid for a top-flight manager is not out of the question.
Spurs identify managerial targets as Igor Tudor faces the axe
Everything at Tottenham is in a real state of flux at the moment.
Igor Tudor is reportedly on his way out after a disastrous spell in the club’s recent history – looking for just one win in every competition since taking over.
A 3-0 defeat at home to rivals Nottingham Forest was the last straw, and reports suggest that a mutual exit looks like a possible end, allowing the Croatian to make a dignified exit while the club prepares for what’s next.
The question of who that is is rarely murkier.
France’s L’Equipe reported earlier this week that talks have begun with Adi Hutter, the Austrian coach who has been out of a job since leaving Monaco in October, and is now the frontrunner for a temporary appointment.
TEAMtalk also said formal contact has been made, and Hutter himself is set to take the job.
The title-winning manager is determined to replace Igor Tudor as Tottenham make contact with him
Spurs are close to a tactician.
Continuing the managerial food chain, Mauricio Pochettino remains emotionally stable and transparent for a long time – but he will be in charge of the United States at the World Cup until at least July, making any immediate appointment unlikely.
Marco Silva was also discussed internally, Romano confirmed via social media.
Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of his contract this summer, could be an option as well, but neither of them solves today’s problem.
Which brings it all back to the Italian man at the center of this whole saga.
Roberto De Zerbi – the man Arne Slot called one of the best managers in the world, the man Chelsea star Joao Pedro called the “top” manager in the world, and the coach who turned Brighton into a force and guided Marseille to second place in Ligue 1 – remains a dream for the Lilywhites.
Fabrizio Romano suggests Tottenham could make a fresh bid for Roberto De Zerbi
Insider Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel and written by GiveMeSport, gave the latest on Spurs and De Zerbi.
He has maintained his position throughout, insisting that the focus has always been on the summer.
De Zerbi will look for a role at Tottenham from June – but only if the club retain their Premier League status.
“If Tottenham stay in the Premier League, getting a job at the end of the season is something Roberto De Zerbi will think about,” said Romano.
“That’s the focus.”
But a key addition to Romano’s latest update is the door he left open.
In the last four to five weeks, De Zerbi has not opened the door to mid-season appointments. As things stand, nothing has changed. However, Romano added:
“Let’s see if Tottenham decide to make another attempt for De Zerbi now.”
That one line changes the dynamic.
It suggests that while De Zerbi’s position has remained unchanged – the summer, not now – Spurs have not given up on convincing him to make an immediate move.
The possibility of a deal breaking the release clause was raised by The Times earlier in the week, although there were reservations from Tottenham’s side.
Whether a compelling alternative might change De Zerbi’s thinking remains an open question.
For a club one point above the relegation zone with seven games to play, the answer cannot wait long.

It would be left field.
