Chad Michael Murray reacts to the costar Scott PattersonIt’s shocking Sullivan’s Crossing Get out.
“There’s a lot of different things going on. You never know,” Murray, 44, said of Patterson’s recent departure in an interview with Yahoo Canada published Sunday, March 22.
The CW series, based on Robyn Carr novel of the same name, follows Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Cohen) as he reunites with his estranged father Sully, played by Patterson, when he returns to his hometown in rural Nova Scotia. Murray stars as freshman Cal Jones. Murray explained that despite Patterson’s exit, his character’s presence is still felt.
“There’s no question in my mind that we did that. The show stays true to itself, and Sully is still a big part of it,” he continued. “He’s still in this world, and there’s still that relationship. And he created The Crossing, so it’s always going to be there, and that’s kind of the foundation that the show is built on.”
Us Weekly He previously reported that Patterson, 67, was officially out Sullivan’s Crossing before season 4. Senior producer and programmer Rome Roth he only told us that the next season will begin immediately after Sully leaves for Ireland with his girlfriend.
“Season 3 of Sullivan’s Crossing ended with Sully leaving for Ireland, starting a new chapter in his life. Season 4 will begin the next day, with Sully overseas,” Roth explained. “Even though he’s not a reality this season, the character remains an important part of the world that has the potential to be included in future seasons if that’s consistent with the art going on.”
Patterson’s exit surprised fans, as the actor has been praising his time on the show.
“It’s always exciting to go to a new place and a new project [and] with new expectations. Everyone is beautiful. The work is deep and the collaboration is real. You have a built-in audience [Gilmore Girls] and now we have an audience for Robyn Carr’s books,” Patterson said alone Us in October 2023. “So it’s fun to go into something that’s established — it already has an established fan base — and I can bring my own. They can join forces and watch the show together and compare notes.”
Patterson also gushed about being able to work with the writers on his character.
“I have more freedom to create the environment I play [Sully] what he says and what he does. I love that about the show. I love that about the producers and the network and all the support they give. Again [executive producer] Roma Roth is a very special producer,” he shared. “He really trusted his actors and really listened to them. You just want the best from the episode.”
He continued, “You want the best at the scene [and] you want the best in the program. To me, that is the mark of a true leader. So we follow his lead, but he’s open to suggestions, which makes this very strong.”
