Robyn Carr’The TV universe is a small world with the same characters from both Sullivan’s Crossing again Virgin River.
While Sullivan’s Crossing again Virgin River they are not in the same place, they are based on different books by Carr. The CTV series, which debuted on The CW before being licensed to Netflix, follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Cohen), who must return to his hometown in rural Nova Scotia. As she spends more time at Sullivan’s Crossing, Maggie reconnects with her estranged father Sully (Scott Patterson) and find love with Cal (Chad Michael Murray).
In addition to Kohan, Patterson and MurraySullivan’s Crossing stars Tom Jackson, Andrea Menard, Dakota Taylor, Amalia Williamson again Lindura.
Virgin Rivermeanwhile, it focuses on the lives of the residents of a small town in Northern California, including Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and her love interest, Jack (Martin Henderson). The Netflix series also stars Colin Lawrence, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen, Marco Grazzini again Kai Bradbury.
Hollingsworth has previously weighed in on a possible crossover, exclusively telling Us Weekly in March 2026, “It has to, right? I think that’s great and it would be great. I love that the romantic drama is really coming back and gaining momentum there.”
In a separate interview, Grazini expressed support for this idea.
“Obviously we share a fan base. So that would be a good thing for everyone involved,” he told us. “It will be interesting to see what the storyboards end up being and what stories end up happening. I’m really excited about that.”
Allen was also impressed, telling us, “I feel like that could happen. I could see that happening. I like the crossover situation.”
Carr, on the other hand, opened up about watching several novels being adapted for the small screen.
“I like to set my stories in completely physical places. If the setting of the story is vivid and realistic, the reader is transported to that place and time, and they want to know the people who live and love them there,” he wrote to BookBub in 2020.
The author acknowledged the connections that existed between his shows – especially Virgin River and Sullivan’s Crossing.
“Yes, in every village there should be houses, businesses, at least one church, medical and emergency centers, and a meeting place – usually a restaurant, coffeehouse, or bar and grill,” he added. “There are always farms and outlying farms.”
Carr continued: “But there are two things that make a town alive for me. One is beauty. Rugged beauty. The towns I write about don’t have to be pretty—they have to be places of great beauty, rugged and remote. And they don’t have to be simple places to live.”
