Rohl could replace Naderi by releasing Aaron Ramsey 2.0 in a new role for the Rangers

After 32 Premiership games last season, Glasgow Rangers sit in second place with 65 points, boasting a fantastic goal difference of 33.

After 32 league games of 2025/26, the picture looks the same, with the Ibrox team again in second place, this time with 66 points, while recording a +32 goal difference.

The difference? However, while Celtic looked to have run away with things last year, the Gers are firmly in contention this time around, moving within one point of leaders Hearts, while enjoying real momentum under new manager Danny Rohl.

With their only league defeat since the German took over, there is little to suggest that the Ibrox side will not be in contention for the title in May, having won three consecutive international break games.

If there is going to be anything that can derail the Ibrox train, however, it would be injuries.

Rangers players are sweating over Ryan Naderi’s injury situation

Luck is often the word when it comes to a title-winning team, especially when it comes to injuries, although the Gers haven’t had much of that, especially in recent weeks.

While Rohl’s side won 4-2 on Saturday afternoon, they suffered the loss of Tuur Rommens to a hamstring injury before the game, and the Belgian is expected to miss at least the next two games.

That setback was followed by concerns over the arrival of his team-mate Ryan Naderi in January, when the 22-year-old was withdrawn at half-time against Dundee United, having opened the scoring earlier.

Speaking after the game, Rohl revealed his concerns about the striker’s fitness, following the £4.7m man’s impressive first half:

“Yes, he was not well. He has a little problem and I hope it is not too serious. He did very well for us and scored a goal, which was good to see.”

That was followed by whispers that Naderi may not be present this season as he was sent to be tested to determine the seriousness of the issue.

Reports have suggested that although he is on the move without anyone’s help, he has trained separately from the first team this week, confirming that Rohl may need to find a different solution this weekend when they face Falkirk.

New Aaron Ramsey could replace Rohl at center back

The obvious answer would be to throw Youssef Chermiti or Bojan Miovski back into the mix, especially since the latter man closed the scoring last time out.

Rangers see £5m bid accepted to sign 13-goal Chermiti

Rangers are reportedly interested in a deal to sign up-and-coming star Youssef Chermiti.

That said, neither midfielder has played well this season, with Chermiti failing to score since the Old Firm derby at Ibrox in the league, while Miovski has scored just five goals in the Premiership so far.

With that in mind, another option would be to move January arrival Andreas Skov Olsen in place of the new-look centre-back, the 26-year-old having served as a number ten or second striker in his career.

Now, right now, the Dane currently falls into Aaron Ramsey’s category as another January loan arrival who hasn’t turned out as expected, scoring just once and registering just three assists in his first ten games for the club.

The Wolfsburg loanee provided Dujon Sterling at the weekend, although he was caught off guard at the break, following another quiet exit down the right flank.

With Djeidi Gassama, who provided three key assists and completed 100% of his passes, looking more than happy in his position in the second half, the 22-year-old is likely to lose, leaving Skov Olsen needing to find a new home in the Rangers attack.

Perhaps he just needs to be relegated to the bench, although the former Club Brugge star could be in the same mold as Naderi, someone who can’t go deep to link the game, yet has the ability to win in the penalty area, as evidenced by his 49 goals in 124 appearances for Belgium.

He appears to lack the pace and movement to thrive widely, but if he is used in one position, supported by Mikey Moore and Gassama, it could spark a revival for this struggling star.

In the case of the aforementioned Ramsey, he has never shown why he deserves to be retained permanently, the retired Welshman registering the same amount of involvement with four goals in his 13 games at Ibrox, while woefully missing out on a crucial place in the Europa League final.

Skov Olsen, whose deal includes an option to buy for around £8-£9m, is at risk of a similar fate, with this move likely to be his last chance to wear a Rangers shirt.

Danny Rohl could relieve Ryan Naderi from injury by letting go of a superstar who isn’t even a middle infielder.
