Amy Duggar Changes Statement of Support for Joseph’s Wife

Amy Duggar King he has returned the support of his embattled cousin Joseph Duggaryour wife, Kendra Duggarfollowing Kendra’s arrest for child endangerment.

“I think that was an unseen conspiracy,” Amy, 39, said of Kendra’s arrest on Saturday, March 21, in an interview with TMZ. “When I gave that [first] statement … that was just the information I was given at the time and thought to be true. Now that the information has changed and there’s a lot more coming out and there’s a lot of question marks right now.”

Amy added, “I will direct this statement to the children because that is what is important right now, the safety of the children, the victim and his family, and the four children who were inside. [Joseph and Kendra’s] at home. It is where my heart lies. I’m just going to sleep.”

Amy was one of the first members of the Duggar family to come forward when Joseph, 31, was arrested on Wednesday, March 18, on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior by a person 18 or older. (Joseph is accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl while they were on vacation together in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020.)

“As we realize we still don’t know the full picture, I pray for Joseph’s wife, Kendra, as she begins to process this, and for the protection of their children,” Amy said earlier in her statement on Thursday, March 19. “I pray for eyes to be opened and above all, I pray for justice to be fully served.”

Amy then lamented on social media on Friday, March 20, when Kendra, along with Joseph, were arrested on four unrelated counts of endangering the welfare of a child, second degree, and four counts of false imprisonment.

“I read like everybody else and look at any kind of article I can find, trying to find answers, because obviously this [heartbreaking],” Amy told TMZ on Saturday. “This is really hard for everyone. … It’s not just the people inside this bubble, who believe in this particular process. It’s the people they loved. I loved Joe. I loved Kendra. There are a lot of people who want this to be less serious.”

Amy expressed sympathy for the 14-year-old girl who came forward with allegations of molestation by Joseph, saying that the alleged victim “should have been safe, she should have been loved.”

“My heart can’t wrap its head around that,” Amy admitted. “This person I thought I knew is not the person he is today. I will answer him and I want justice to be fully served.”
