Manchester United have received the green light from Tottenham to sign Real Madrid’s goalkeeper

Manchester United have now been given the green light to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero and INEOS could also secure a cut-price deal.

Man Utd will face Real Madrid for Romero

The Red Devils have plenty of reasons to be optimistic these days. Not only are they on course to qualify for the Champions League, they are on course to do so in style.

With doubts looming over Michael Carrick for the first time in recent weeks, the interim manager got a much-needed statement with a win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, adding to previous wins against Arsenal and Manchester City during his tenure.

Whether Matheus Cunha’s winner is enough to tempt INEOS into giving Carrick a permanent gig remains to be seen. Recent rumors would suggest they are considering all options, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann threatening to steal the headlines.

Whoever takes over this summer will be backed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has already transformed Man United’s midfield with impressive additions over the past year.

The strategy last summer seemed to target Premier League talent and has brought great success. As a result, the Red Devils are not set on fixing something that isn’t broken.

Man Utd linked with Carrick to replace elite 11-cup manager

The Red Devils are determined to be a “world-class” manager.

According to Caught Offside, Man United have received the green light to sign Romero from Tottenham this summer, while Spurs are now ready to sell after they wanted to continue with their captain.

As things stand, Spurs are one point adrift of safety with five games to play. Their captain is unlikely to move on and has publicly indicated he is ready for a move, while their €65m (£57m) price tag will drop further if they go down.

The Red Devils are not the only ones interested in the Tottenham captain – both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have the tough defender on their radar.

Romero follows Maguire

A few days after Noussair Mazraoui was forced to play at fullback against Chelsea, Man United are keen to sign Romero. The Argentine defender would have ticked many boxes this summer, at least those regarding Premier League expertise.

There is no doubt that Romero can qualify to win this race anywhere. While Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro are future stars, United still lack an experienced full-back at the top of their game alongside Harry Maguire or Lisandro Martinez amid Matthijs de Ligt’s injury problems.

Called “unbelievable” by fellow defender Micky van de Ven, Romero is certainly one to watch this summer.

He could even take Maguire’s place in Man United’s best team, given how the Englishman has excelled in so many departments this season.
