Super Power Stars, Not Returning for Season 3

High power is returning for a third season — but not everyone is coming back after this unexpected cast exit.
ABC’s hit series, which premieres in September 2024, follows Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a mastermind who works with the LAPD to help the department solve murders. Morgan is paired with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), who initially had doubts about his ability to help the major crimes unit but eventually came to trust him.
Before season 2 ended in April 2026, news broke about that runner-up Todd Harthan is out of the show, created by Drew Goddard. The pilot was written by Goddard, who was expected to co-produce Sarah Esberg, Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Pierre Laugier, Anthony Lancret, Jean Nainchrik again Alethea Jones.
Thomas, meanwhile, was expected to serve as runner-up before exiting in June 2024 – months before the start of the series. Finally Harthan was announced as the new producer, who also served as executive producer.
Harthan teased the idea of a series while talking to him Us Weekly in January 2026.
“It’s a very difficult journey. We’re going to start taking out the most sensitive stuff with Morgan, as it relates to all things Roman,” he said at the time. “There are all kinds of trials and tribulations that will happen to the kids in the house. It will be messy and difficult – hopefully in the best possible way to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.”
He concluded, “Our job now as we get to the back half of season two is to fill in some of the big gaps and develop some of the relationships. You’re going to see some strong things happen between Steve Howey’s character and Captain Wagner really start to blossom in the back half. That creates a nice mess with the soap on many levels. It’s just putting our stuff together and keeping the audience guessing.”
The big cliffhanger, however, is whether Wagner (Steve Howey) was dead or alive when this actor left the show.
Keep scrolling to see which one High power The stars return – and they don’t – in season 3:
Kaitlin Olson
It wouldn’t be Super Power without Morgan, so it’s safe to say that Kaitlin Olson will be back for season 3.
Daniel Sunjata
Karadec’s love life took a toll on season 2, so expect to see how that is handled on screen.
Javicia Leslie
Javicia Leslie’s character Daphne is returning for more episodes of the hit ABC procedural.
Deniz Akdeniz
As Daphne solves many cases, she is expected to have her partner Oz by her side.
Judy Reyes
Judy Reyes did double duty with Scrubs and season 2 of High Potential, so there’s no doubt she’s coming back.
Amirah J
Ava got a big role to play in the show as her missing father, Roman, made an appearance in the season 2 finale.
Matthew the Lamb
Along with Ava, Morgan’s son, Elliot, will play a major role in season 3.
Steve Howey
Howey joined the crime drama in June 2025 as a series regular on a one-year deal. His character was finally shot in the season 2 finale. That – combined with the character being cast in other plays at the same time – marked his exit for good, but it’s unclear what will happen to Wagner.
Taran Killam
Taran Killam is expected to return as Morgan’s ex (and coparent) in season 3.
Make Phifer
Mekhi Phifer joined season 2 as Roman’s friend, but it’s unclear if she’ll be back.
