Wolves are in a good position to sign the former Inter Milan star who Rangers tried to land in January

Wolves are said to be the frontrunners to sign the former Inter Milan star with Scottish giants Rangers trying to land him in January.
Wolves are making transfer plans in preparation for the Championship
Old Gold can be good.
With 17 points from 31 Premier League games and only seven games to go, the numbers have long spoken.
Rob Edwards has been unable to arrest the slide that began before his arrival, and the summer overhaul now planned at Molineux is one of the most important the club has faced in years.
The extent of the reconstruction is already clear.
Nasser Djiga, the Burkina Faso defender who was brought in for £10m a year ago, could be sold for as little as £5m.
Joao Gomes and Andre are attracting attention from the Premier League which Wolves are unlikely to be able to resist if the offer is right.
The Wolves duo looked like Neves & Moutinho 2.0, now they have to be sold
Despite a recent surge in form, Wolves and Rob Edwards will be relegated from the Premier League.
Players who signed up for high-profile football and the salaries that come with it will have to accept significant pay cuts or find a move elsewhere.
A bill that comes from being part of the Premier League for a few seasons cannot survive intact in the second division.
But exits aside, Wolves are already considering who is coming in.
One name sitting at the top of their recruitment list is the 21-year-old Dane who has been turning heads in Sweden’s Allsvenskan.
Wolves are in a position to sign Silas Andersen
TEAMtalk say Wolves have come out on top to sign BK Häcken midfielder Silas Andersen this summer.
The Copenhagen-born talent, who played for Inter Milan at one point, joined the Swedish club from FC Utrecht in January 2025 and wasted no time establishing himself as one of the league’s best midfielders.
His game is built on physical authority, defensive intelligence and the ability to drive play forward with his passing – a profile that suits a club looking to force themselves into the Championship and push for an immediate return to the top flight.
Interest is not exclusive.
Rangers made inquiries in January, with Celtic being linked at the time.
Häcken held out both times, insisting on a fee in the region of £6m and above.
Further strengthening their position, the Swedish club tied Andersen to a new contract until 2029 in mid-March – a clear sign that they intend to extract a high price from any move.
Despite that new deal, interest has not only continued but intensified, and Wolves now find themselves the club best placed to win the race for Andersen’s signature.
Häcken is now understood to want a club-record fee for the midfielder, potentially in excess of £9m, and they are under no pressure to accept anything less than their value given the length of his new deal.
For Wolves, that represents a huge gain for the Championship-bound club, but it also reflects their wider philosophy of signing young talent at the right price rather than overpaying for established names.
Old Firm clubs remain in the picture, and Champions League qualification will greatly increase the ability of Celtic and Rangers to match whatever Wolves are willing to offer.
For Andersen, the attraction of regular European football or the way to enter the Premier League through the competition may have been the backbone of his decision.
Wolves’ £50m star is fast becoming the new Morgan Gibbs-White
Despite being close to collapse, Wolverhampton Wanderers have a £50m player on their hands.
