Hoda Kotb Talks About Savannah Guthrie’s Desperation to Find Nancy

After talking to her friend on camera, Kotb was in awe of Savannah’s strength, adding, “I was amazed that she was able to sit there in a dress, have a conversation and be positive about what she sees going forward. … It’s like no one steals her joy, so you’ll see both sides of that.”
Savannah got emotional during a segment on the morning show when she explained the ongoing search for Nancy.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in pain,” he shared of the “unbearable” pain of waiting for updates. “And to think about what he went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the dark, I think of his fear. And it’s unimaginable.”
Nancy, 84, was reported missing in February, one day after she was last seen in Arizona. Pima County Administrator Chris Nanos later noted that there were “concerning circumstances” found at Nancy’s home.
“She’s awake, she’s in her right mind,” he told reporters, adding that Nancy is “not well” physically. “I hope we find him safe and sound, but we can’t ignore what’s ahead of us.”
Savannah, on the other hand, was absent from Today during her mother’s disappearance. He previously shared a statement from his family with the show, which read, “On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, we are focused on the safe return of our beloved mother. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”
Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, have since been sharing social media messages in hopes that their mother’s captor will listen. In February, they confirmed that the reward for Nancy’s return had increased to $1 million.
“He may have already gone home to the Lord he loves and is dancing in heaven with his mother and father and his beloved brother, Pierce, and our father. If this is to be, we will accept it,” said Savannah at the time. “But we need to know where he is. We need him to come home.”
The FBI has released photos and videos of the subject outside Nancy’s home.
