INEOS must sell Man Utd star who played more minutes than Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United may not be perfect, but they’ve come into focus under Michael Carrick and are getting their money’s worth in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.

Last season’s struggles under Ruben Amorim held United back on their way to European football and kept them playing at home.

Carrick returned to Old Trafford in January and found a disillusioned and disillusioned team that was looking at a second consecutive season of misery. And yet, he has recorded back-to-back Premier League victories over Manchester City and Arsenal to revive the club, and they are not firing on all cylinders but at least a few more.

Throughout the campaign, captain Bruno Fernandes has been great, but with most of his teammates now playing at a higher level, he has taken his game to the next level.

Perhaps Fernandes actually took his game to the next level when he proved to be a shining light during the first half of the season, but at least now he is riding a big wave in the area.

Arsenal will probably lift the Premier League title this season, but there is a strong case to be made that this is the player of the season, a man who has stepped up and stepped up and proved a big difference. It is no exaggeration to say that the Red Devils would have sunk to the ground without their Magnifico from Portugal.

The 31-year-old has scored eight goals and provided 16 assists in the Premier League this season. He is chasing Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s seemingly cursed record of 20.

If he gets that individual praise, he really deserves it. After all, Fernandes has far surpassed his division rivals in terms of creativity this season.

He’s the star of the show, and there’s no mistaking it, but while United have been successful recently, the Portuguese player may be hoping to find his team-mate’s top level in a few moments, having failed to win the Premier League or Champions League during his time in England.

INEOS must act with ambition.

Man Utd must sell a star who has played more than Bruno

Manchester United have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround over the past few months, but they still need to get rid of the flotsam this summer, and while he is a professional, Luke Shaw must be among those sold.

The veteran left-back only has a year left on his contract, so there is a chance that keeping him around could hamper Carrick (or whoever else takes up a permanent role this summer) in rebuilding the Theater of Dreams.

Shaw, who is 30 years old, has matured in his football playing, he doesn’t know how to move the ball and believe when he plays forward. He created just one big chance all year, and other than that, he lost the ball 9.5 times per game on average, and completed a dribble once every five outings.

Here’s the thing: Shaw remains a capable defender and a useful squad option, but he has started 31 of Man United’s Premier League games this season, and has featured more often than any other member of Amorim and Carrick’s squad.

That’s not good enough, because Shaw is not good enough. He is a popular player in Manchester, having been with the club for over a decade, joining as a sensational talent from Southampton for £30m in 2015, with injuries derailing what could have been a career of greatness.

But now, it’s time to close the curtain on his long career at the club, with Patrick Dorgu currently sidelined and bound to find his footing again when he’s ready to do so, truly coming into his own before that devastating winter blow.

Shaw, by contrast, “didn’t come close to it” for large parts of the season, as noted by Gary Neville.

He hasn’t been patient all year – far from it – but INEOS and Man United must be ruthless in returning the club to its one-time, poor status in English and European football.

Shaw has done all he can in recent years, but perhaps it’s time to part ways and bank the big transfer fee while they still can, especially if you buy the latest transfer rumors that the Northerners are looking to swoop for Arsenal this summer for Myles Lewis Skelly.

Although Shaw has avoided any fitness setbacks this season, it is clear that he is no longer boasting his old athleticism and fitness, and that has also been marred by doubts about his performance.

There is still a lot to play for, and while Manchester United will end the season without silverware, they have a good chance of not only returning to Europe but doing so with success, and getting one over the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

In this case, Shaw has played his part, but sticking to the past has been one of the issues of recent years of struggle for those Red Devils, and it is time to make more changes and redirect this outfit.
