Washington Mother Found Murdered in SUV With Her Crying Baby

A man is expected to be extradited from Kentucky to Washington state after he is accused of murdering a mother in front of her one-year-old son in a “random and violent” attack.
Officials in Vancouver, Washington, said that Dariel Nunez-Montero accused of cutting Courtney ClintonThroat of a Ford Edge SUV while her child was in the car with them.
“Courtney was found deceased in her vehicle … in the 300 block of Blandford Dr.,” a city press release said. “Courtney’s child was also found in the car, the child was not injured.”
A spokesperson for the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney confirmed that Nunez-Montero, 32, is in custody in Kentucky on unrelated charges, according to Law & Crime. He will now be extradited to Washington state after his previous trial is over.
A warrant was issued for Nunez-Montero’s arrest in April 2025 on a first-degree murder charge in connection with Clinton’s death. Vancouver detectives went to Montgomery County, Kentucky, to serve a warrant for his arrest while he was in custody, according to city officials.
Nunez-Montero is expected to be extradited to Washington in the next few weeks.
The suspect’s DNA was found inside the car where Clinton’s body and her crying child were found, according to an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime. The car was found on November 1, 2024, when a man drove by and thought Clinton had been “shot in the back of the head” because it was “covered in blood.”
The man called 911 and police were called to the scene, where they found slash wounds to Clinton’s neck. Police determined that the wounds were caused by a sharp weapon, according to the affidavit.
Nunez-Montero’s DNA was allegedly found on the passenger door of the SUV. DNA was also found under Clinton’s fingernails, although prosecutors have not said whether the DNA belonged to Nunez-Montero.
The camera allegedly captured Nunez-Montero leaving her apartment at 3:31 a.m. on October 29, 2024, with a woman who appeared to be Clinton. The woman was carrying a child at the time.
The two were seen walking toward the parking lot of Nunez-Montero’s apartment, and video captured her returning at 6:29 a.m. without Clinton.
“Courtney’s whereabouts after this time will not be known until she is found on (Nov. 1),” the affidavit states.
Investigators say Clinton texted her location to a friend at 3:38 a.m., indicating she was at the apartment where Nunez-Montero allegedly lived. A friend of Clinton’s reportedly told officials that she “has been known to meet men on social media,” while often posting on escort websites.
Clinton was last seen in person three days before her body was found on October 29, 2024.
